In July, my music duo (my ex & I) had a UK tour, part of which was in Northern Ireland. On the ferry there, I sat out on the deck, noticed the complete lack of land, purely sea, and I wrote this song about just going somewhere, anywhere. Musically, it follows the same progression as Minnie The Moocher, but I take stylistic influence from Missing Andy.
lyrics
Wake up go to work march on with the daily grind, go to bed and pay the bills repeat till you die
I'm bored of this lifestyle, I want to get away, tell my job to stick it and catch the nearest train
I go to another place, feel the wind in my face, I'm moving on to pastures new
I see the roads behind me, the sea and land underneath
I'm moving onto pastures new
Breakfast from the wife she's serving eggs with extra moan, always in my face she never leaving me alone
Don't want to feel inferior and riddled with disdain, I'll pack my bags and bugger off catch the nearest train
I go to another place, feel the wind in my face, I'm moving on to pastures new
I see the roads behind me, the sea and land underneath
I'm moving onto pastures new
Scrolling through my timeline, people's lives better than mine, they're all going on holiday all the bloody time
While I'm stuck here in England and all we get is rain
Ill pack my bag and bugger off, and catch the nearest train.
I go to another place, feel the wind in my face, I'm moving on to pastures new
I see the roads behind me, the sea and land underneath
I'm moving onto pastures new
