about

I played a birthday party near Stockport and during this gig I chatted a lot to the client’s niece. We were kind of flirtatious and I felt a chemistry as we talked and as I saw her dance. I gave her my number before I departed, leaving the ball in her court, and this song captures the teenage excitement of where things could be heading.

lyrics

A crowded room, December on Friday night The beer flows free, and the youngsters running wild Several hundred faces, none I recognise I excuse myself, try to get some air outside

Tap on my shoulder, I turn around feeling somewhat confused Exchange introductions, and at hello I was enthused I offered you your favourite drink and I’m so glad you didn’t refuse I’ve made a start but I’ll let you make the next move

The other faces blur as I focus on your eyes We start getting closer start getting more tactile I’m called onstage liven up the night You step up to dance I wish one of my feet were right

I send the crowd dancing round you keep falling into my view A wink or two sent your way, you seem charmed and amused We’ve both been lonely for a while, I think you could be my muse I’ve made a start but I’ll let you make the next move

I step offstage and we find somewhere quiet I listen to your passions, and some background of your life We practise our Spanish finding where our fuego lies Standing silent and close feel the spark ignite

Y veo la duda en tus ojos azul We can go our separate ways, both got nothing to lose I leave my number just in case you wanna start something new I’ve made a start but I’ll let you make the next move
