In late August at 11am, my ex and her father came to what my place-formerly our place- and collected the last of her things before driving away permanently. This was a massive reality check/closure and it was a stark reminder that she was really gone. Hours later, I wrote this song in about 15 minutes before a gig that night.

You pack your things in bags and boxes, your dad looks at me disappointed
I look on, as you erase yourself from my life, the whole relationship anointed

You were the best thing that happened to me, I wish to you it showed

Your dad and I have the icy politeness, he regurgitates your little lies
Missed out the detail of what you did to me, if he knew it would catch by surprise

You leave the little trophy I got for you, it said '6 months- so far so good'
To you its now so meaningless, I never thought it could

You were the best thing that happened to me, I wish to you it showed

There's your side of the story, there's also mine, the truth is hidden somewhere
The bottom line is, my heart is broken, and you left without a care

I look out the window the raindrops falling, like the tears on my cheek
